What Must I Do To Be Saved?
What Must I Do To Be Saved?
This is one of the most important questions a person could ever ask?
The Bible’s answer is very simple…
We are saved only by God’s grace and not by our efforts (Ephesians 2:8,9). However, we do have a role in His plan for us. We must accept that grace…and we do that by our faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8). That faith in God and in His desire and willingness to rescue us causes us to repent of our sins (Romans 2:4). That means we are moved to change our minds about sin. We change from feeling our present lifestyle is okay to feeling that that lifestyle is no longer okay.
Part of that change involves accepting and acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and the Lord of our lives (Romans 2:9,10; compare Matthew 16:16). Our acknowledgement of His sonship and His Lordship is then followed by being buried in baptism (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38 compare Acts 22:16 & Romans 6:1-7). As baptized believers, we continue to follow Jesus “in the light” as our Lord resulting in our sins continuing to be cleansed by His blood (see 1 John 1:7) until we leave this earth (Revelation 2:10).
God longs to rescue us. He waits for us to accept that rescue.
